With the shape of it's head, how did it catch prey, and what prey was it catching? I have heard things from invertebrates to it being a scavenger of dead meat.

It's motto was "Come and have a ball" It probably ate other small aquatic animals. ;D Possibly how some modern newts eat. By sucking in water.......the insects will then be pulled in.
